These days integrated production systems make up the organisational back bone of industrial manufacturing. The knowledge of the main principles of a production system can be regarded as the requisite know-how for young engineers and production managers. In order to put those competences across, the methods and the philosophy of the Toyota production system are discussed during the "Practical Course Lean Production". Additionally, the participants delve into this system during practical exercises. The objective is to supply the students with a kit of methods which help to reveal and to avoid wastage so that they are ideally prepared for their career entry. The students implement their gained knowledge when mounting a planetary drive and, thus, they experience the impact and effect of the methods in a real production environment. During multiple phases of team work, the assembly line in the experimental hall of the iwb is analysed and optimised gradually. |
